Introduction to Facebook Ads: Audience, Budget and Schedules
If you want to you can use your regular business page posts and click “promote” and you can just promote it via facebook. However if you want more control over the advert then this is where Facebooks Ads Manager comes in.
Once you have opened Facebook Ad Manager you start by creating and choosing objective whether it be increasing traffic to your page or collecting information from people who are interested in your business.
Ad Set: Define your audience, budget and schedule :
What country and location are you looking to find people in? Within the Ad set you can choose what location(s) you want to target whether you want to target everyone or just people living in the location or people who are visiting/have visited this area. This can be down to a postcode area or you can pinpoint to an exact area and set a radius down to 1 mile. You can also choose to exclude areas as well.
The next steps you can target a narrow or wide age range anywhere from 13-65+ then you could choose to target a gender (Men or Women) and specific languages.
Then you can go into detailed targeting and you can say what type of person/business you want these to be seen by. For example you can choose parents, people that travel, what they are specifically interested in and loads more.
So you can just have new people seeing your page you can exclude people who already like your page in the connections section.
Automatic placements is a recommended part of Ad set as this lets Facebook decide where to place your advertisement where they are likely to perform the best across different platforms, allocating and maximising your budget.
You can edit placements so you can choose what devices you want your advert to be viewed on and what platform so if you don’t want it to display on Instagram or messenger you can choose for it not to be.
In the delivery optimisation you can choose what type of people you want to see your ad by how likely they are to click on the link or go to the website or how often you want them to see the ad.
For the advertisement you need to set a budget this can be daily or lifetime. Your budget can be as big or as little as you like but the effectiveness will change. Also you have to choose how long you want the advert to run for this can be 1 day to 9 days.
To create a custom audience you can add people to an audience who have visited/engaged with / clicked a call to action / sent a message to or saved your page in to / up to 365 days ago.
Audience insight is where Facebook lets you see the age (18+), gender(Men, Women), relationship status(single, in a relationship, engaged, married),education level(highest self-reported data) and job title of people who are using facebook and what devices people are using. This can also be narrowed down to specific locations for some very effective targeting.
