First up, create yourself a personal website and try to fill it with as much valuable and unique content as possible that relates to you. You should also optimise your website for your name or brand by including it in the Page Titles, Meta Descriptions and Header tags, this will help rank your website for the relevant search terms. For example if your name is “Herb Gardener” your page title could be “Herb Gardener – Photography & Amateur boxer”, your page description could be “Herb Gardener specialises in wedding photography in the Lincolnshire area with over 15 years’ experience” and one of your heading tags could be “About Herb Gardener”.
Including a location in your content can also help your with local search results by letting Google know your name and location are related, local search results are also much easier to appear due to much lower competition than national results.
Once you’ve established your website the next step is to get it ranked and building authority. The easiest way to build authority is through a technique known as link-building. Link building is a strategy to get other websites to link to your website, which in turn shows Google that your website can be trusted especially if the websites that link to you are well-established and relevant to your career or brand.
